  • Communication is dynamic
Changes from time to time, therefore everything is accumulative. Like the humans who compose them, relationship constantly evolve.
  • Communication is unrepeatable & irreversible
A communication encounter affect and change people so that the encounter can never happen again in exactly the same way again. We can neither take back something we have said nor erase the effects of something we have done.
  • Communication has no opposite
We cannot not communicate. We can never voluntarily stop behaving, behavior has no opposite where we cannot not communicate no matter how hard we try.
  • Communication is affected by culture
Cultural diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender, and age, influences the meanings we attribute to communication. Cultural differences exist not only between cultures but also among those who speak the same language as well.
  • Communication is influenced by ethics
Since communication has consequences, it involves judgments of right and wrong. When the agreed-upon standards of behavior are violated, the behavior is judged unethical. Ethics are the moral principles, values and beliefs that the members of society use to guide behavior.
  • Communication is competence-based
If communication can fail, it will. In certain situations, some messages are appropriate and acceptable to say to particular receivers while others are not. Knowledge and critical thinking can help in gaining communication competence. While we all have different communication strength and weaknesses, we can all benefit from getting better at communicating.
  • Media and technology transforms communication
Different channels of communication affect the way a sender encodes a messages and the way a receiver responds to a message. The same words delivered face-to-face, on paper, via text or via radio or television do not constitute the same message. New ways of discovering info, messages tend to be permanent, can choose to remain anonymous, addictive, social isolation & social integration. Technopoly: 'a culture in which technology monopolizes the thought-world.'
