Evaluating Healthy Gait

• Components of Resultant GRF:

  • The resultant ground reaction force is made up from the following 3 components:

  1. Vertical
  2. Anterior - Posterior
  3. Medial - Lateral

  • The interaction of the vertical & anterior-posterior force may be shown with a Pedotti diagram
• Construction of Pedotti Diagrams:

  • Pedotti diagrams rely on the info provided by force plates
  • To construct a Pedotti diagram, we need to know the vertical & horizontal forces & the position of the centre of pressure in the plane of interest for each moment in time
