  • Alliteration
    the repetition of usually initial consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words or syllables (ex. wild and wooly walrus)
  • Assonance
    the use of words that have the same or very similar vowel sounds near one another (ex. summer fun)
  • Consonance
    recurrence or repetition of consonant sounds, especially at the end of stressed syllables (ex. "stroke" and "luck")
  • Onomatopoeia
    the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound (ex. buzz)
